Carbon Underwriting Limited, a specialist independent managing general underwriter and Lloyd’s Syndicate CBN 4747, has appointed Jeff Bright as Underwriting Director, effective November 3rd, 2025.
The appointment marks a key milestone in Carbon’s long-term ambition to expand in the US. In the last five years, Carbon’s premiums grew from £15 million to £320 million.
Bright has over three decades of experience in the Lloyd’s Property DUA market. During this time, he’s developed and managed extensive US property portfolios in senior roles at TMK and, most recently, as Co-Founder and Chief Underwriting Officer at Adeptive LLP.
The firm hopes that a strong team, innovative technology, and the support of a successful recent capital raise will enable it to build a robust expansion plan in the region.
Jacqui Ferrier, Chief Executive Officer, Carbon Underwriting, commented, “The US represents a major opportunity for Carbon as we continue to strengthen our global partnerships. United by our people, innovation, and collaborative approach, we’re redefining underwriting through fresh insight and a shared commitment to building strong bonds with our partners.
“Continuing this strategy is essential to laying down the right foundations for sustainable success in the US. Jeff brings exceptional experience and credibility to our ambitions in the region, and his leadership will be instrumental in shaping and launching the new platform.”
Bright added, “Joining Carbon to help shape the US platform is a fantastic chance to help build something exceptional. The team’s focus on partnerships, transparency, and innovation truly sets it apart. Their Graphene technology is significantly transforming how underwriters, brokers, and coverholders work together. I’m very excited to lead this transformation into the US, supported by a company that empowers its people and challenges convention.”
