Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Everest Group has promoted Jill Beggs to Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Reinsurance, following her appointment as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the reinsurance arm early last year.
Beggs was promoted to the Reinsurance COO role less than three years after she rejoined the company from Munich Re in late 2021 as Senior Vice President and Head of North America Reinsurance.
Today, the global re/insurer has announced her promotion to CEO of Reinsurance, effective immediately.
Since rejoining in 2021, Everest says that Beggs’ leadership “has been instrumental” in advancing its global reinsurance strategy, driving strong growth across the division’s North America, International, Global Facultative, Global Specialty, and Mt. Logan Capital Management businesses.
She brings more than three decades of risk management experience to her new role, having spent 20 years at Munich Re in a variety of roles. Beggs joined the European reinsurer after more than nine years with Everest between 1993 and 2002.
Jim Williamson, Everest President and CEO, commented: “Jill’s promotion is a testament to her leadership and the success of our reinsurance business. With Jill’s expertise and collaborative approach, Everest has delivered exceptional risk-adjusted returns and value to clients in an increasingly challenging risk environment. I look forward to working with Jill to drive the next chapter of the business’s strategic growth and innovation.”
Commenting on her new position, Beggs said: “I am honored to lead Everest’s reinsurance division, building on our history of excellence and global market-leading position.
“Our team’s broad capabilities and client-first approach have positioned us well for the future, as we focus on delivering sustained value to our clients, shareholders, and partners.”
