Howden, the global insurance and reinsurance broking group, has appointed Patrick De Baets as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its Belgium operation, effective immediately.
De Baets has over three decades of industry experience, having held senior leadership roles across Belgium and Europe. Most recently, he led Foyer Assurances’ Belgian business, and has previously served as CEO of Touring Assurances (AXA Group) and BNP Paribas Cardif Belgium.
The broker stated that his deep understanding of the Belgian insurance market and track record in driving innovation and growth make him ideally placed to lead its next phase of development as CEO, as Howden continues to accelerate its growth and investment in the market.
Since entering Belgium in 2020, Howden has developed rapidly through organic growth and strategic acquisitions, including Sarton & Associés, WDR Insurance, Flanders and Dwels. The broker has also expanded into Luxembourg to strengthen its position in the two countries.
