Coterie Insurance, a tech-enabled and data-focused managing general agent (MGA), has appointed Mike Albert as Chief Technology Officer and Allan Egbert as Chief Platform Officer.
Albert and Egbert have worked with Coterie as advisors since early 2025. The two previously co-founded Ask Kodiak, an insurtech that built an appetite and eligibility platform used in commercial insurance distribution. Ask Kodiak was acquired by Applied Systems in 2021.
Coterie is adopting a dual-leadership approach for its technology operations, with the aim of addressing the operational and development needs of its platform.
The two have worked together for nearly 20 years in various capacities, including roles at AgencyPort and involvement in Insurtech Boston.
Albert will be responsible for engineering strategy, technical architecture, and the company’s innovation plans. Egbert will oversee platform infrastructure, operations, DevOps, and performance.
The leadership changes come as Coterie continues to update its approach to small business insurance, with efforts focused on risk selection, niche products, faster quoting, and technology tools for agents.
“As Coterie scales, we are investing in roles and technology that reflect the complexity of our ecosystem and the simplicity we owe our partners,” commented David McFarland, CEO of Coterie.
“Mike and Allan bring complementary strengths, proven track records, and an unapologetic focus on building software that solves real problems. This is a defining moment for our tech organisation.”
